As someone who is now Aunt to more than forty (true story 😅), friends to many, mom, and even Grandma to two…I have given my share of gifts over the years! 🎁
From Sympathy to Birthday, it seems there is always some sort of occasion around the corner, and can I say that ‘big box store shopping’ just isn’t my thing. The thought of getting something they can pull from the shelf themselves makes it feel so meaningless, for me.
I grew up the youngest of five, and we didn’t have a lot of money. Despite our circumstances, mom was masterful at making Christmas feel so magical because she wrapped every little thing, then finished it off with ribbons and bows! 🎁
It could have been a box of crayons in one, and a coloring book in another; But when you’re an excited child on Chistmas morning with an abundance of beautiful gifts to open, everything was truly special. 🥲
These momories not only stuck with me, I followed in mom’s footsteps and have always trimmed packages in a way that let’s the recipient know this isn’t just any gift, this was especially chosen for you. 💗
This is the inspiration behind the packaging, it has to evoke a feeling, and a desire to slow down and enjoy.
Naturally the gifts I sell here have a much different vibe than the colorful Christmas gifts that inspired me, but the idea didn’t change at all. The ‘details’ quickly became as important as the gift itself. After all, if you get a great candle from someone, that’s a lovely gift.
We smell it, we thank them, and we set it down and move on. Take that same candle and add a mountain silhoutte burned into the lid, then wrap it in a natural honeycomb paper, and tie a preserved sprig to it using some twine. Now the candle becomes an experience before it’s ever lit. 🤗
So let’s talk about the gift itself, because packaging alone does not create the perfect gift. 🤭
For me, it can be overwhelming shopping for someone who seems to have everything, and then there is that family member who is just difficult to shop for.
This is where I’m at an advantage, I have the mountain and all it’s abundance, and it is a great pleasure sharing it with others. 🫶
So much of myself goes into these products, especially the botanicals. I literally forage them, dry them, scent them using the orris powder, cure them in totes for months, I even dehydrate my own oranges. This is not the Potpourri you grew up with. 🌲
The refresh oil, the keepsake card, every detail is unique & special. (and the scent is pretty good too if I do say so myself 🥰)
